New Patient Story: Melissa from Birmingham, Alabama, U.S.A.

The Foundation is grateful to Melissa for sharing her story with us and with all our followers, thereby raising awareness and hope for those still struggling.
Like so many of the patient stories we hear, before being properly diagnosed, she was first seen in psychiatry, until she had a seizure, which pointed to an organic cause to her psychosis, leading to proper testing and scanning for an underlying teratoma tumour.
In Melissa’s own words, “This illness tried to kill me but I survived and I will not allow it to ruin anything else for me.”
