Rest In Peace Wendy Station
Posted on October 26, 2020
It is with heavy heart, that we must share that our dear friend and encephalitis advocate, Wendy Station, lost her courageous battle with cancer overnight. Many of you may not have even known that she was fighting cancer because Wendy is that kind of person – never wanting the spotlight. Her battle started early this year and she bravely fought it with her ever-positive spirit. Please pray for her family and close friends who are now grieving.
We all share a bit of Wendy from her passionate 20-year drive to raise awareness of encephalitis, provide information and connect others. We likely wouldn’t even know each other without Wendy’s launch of Encephalitis Global and her relentless efforts to help others. Whether you met her at a FACES international event, or local gathering or networked with her online in the Inspire forum or on Facebook, you interacted with one of the most beautiful, welcoming and giving souls who ever lived. We will all miss her and her inviting disposition that put others at ease and honored their encephalitis journey.
Always thinking of others, even during her own personal struggle, Wendy made necessary adjustments to accommodate the encephalitis community. Please honor Wendy’s wish by shifting from the Encephalitis Global Facebook Group to the one on Inspire.com that she had pinned to the top of the FB group. She also asked that you follow Encephalitis411, who will become the beneficiary of her many years of work leading Encephalitis Global and making a mark on so many lives.
If you attend World Encephalitis Day (WED), the WED Alliance will be honoring her during this event in February 2021. This information is at https://wedconf.org/.
Wendy, we will be forever grateful to you. Rest in peace, dear friend.
